Easter with the Kingsleys

We celebrated Easter with the Kingsley side of the family a week before Easter this year. Nana & Papa left Easter weekend for their European cruise (tough life!) It was a bit cold, but Alice really enjoyed her Easter egg hunt and hanging out with Anastastia, Aunt Kristen, Aunt Brandie, and Uncle Tommie. She'd pick up an egg and immediately say, "Another egg?" She even decorated her own Easter eggs!

Play Bubbles!

Ahhh . . . warm air! We've been lucky with 60+ degree temperatures this week. I would love to go out for a run (or long walk), but I'm not even able to walk down the street without getting uncomfortable. . . Alice and I however have settled for a few types of easy-going outdoor fun. This week we've gone to the park to play on the swings and spent a lot of time on our driveway playing with bubbles! She tries very hard, but struggles to get those bubbles going :) Uncle Jay and Auntie Cait stopped by this morning. Cait is ready for baby Sophie at any time! We are all anxiously awaiting. Jay brought his new camera lens to try it out and the pictures he took turned out wonderful!

I think this one is my favorite-- what a beautiful little girl.

2 years, 2 months . . .

Alice is now up and running as a 2 year old - - and exhibiting some of those “wonderful” terrible 2 behaviors. Lately, she’s found that falling to the floor crying is the best way to handle her emotions whenever mommy tells her “no.” It’s lovely (sigh), especially when she once gave herself a rug burn on her nose from her temper tantrum.

Regardless of her occasional fits, Alice cracks us up every day with her adorable personality. She understands so much, and it’s so fun to actually have a full conversation with her. Her little brain is always busy making connections and I’m constantly in awe at everything she “gets.”

Lately, she’s been very into her Dora dress-up outfit. It comes complete with slippers and a yellow magic wand. Alice loves to run around the house and yell, “Abra-dabbra.” As you can see from the above picture, she still feels it's necessary to smile with her whole face and squint her eyes shut. She’s now over her fear and dread of getting her hair washed in the bath tub. She’ll practice washing the hair on her bath toys and now goes “swimming” in the tub by lying on her belly and kicking her feet in the water. This makes me very hopeful for swimming this summer :)

We’re still working on the potty training. She’ll have do very well in a pull up all day, but she’ll also have accidents in her pull-up if I don’t take her to the potty in time. I tried a couple time letting her run around with out a pull-up. She managed to potty on the floor, on the couch, and in her booster seat at dinner in a matter of 2 days. Hmmm . . problem! My plan is to go into full potty training action over my spring break. I’ll just have to keep the carpet cleaner handy!

We talk lots about the arrival of her baby sister. She loves to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle” to my belly and give my belly hugs and kisses. She even let me hold Nicole & Kip's little guy, baby Andy, last weekend without getting jealous.

Although I'm getting very excited about the new baby (and not being pregnant and huge), I'm trying not to rush away these next 7 weeks and enjoy my solo time with my little girl.

Today Emily had a little girl! I was able to make a quick visit this evening to see the baby. She is adorable and looks a lot like Blythe. Emily and Matt looked great and the baby is doing wonderful! Congratulations Ahlfeld family! What a blessing!

Only 9 more weeks until I get to hold my little baby!
